About Thomas Farlow
Hello, my name is Thomas Farlow I am married and a father of 2 wonderful boys I am very proud of. I started fishing when I was around the age of 8 or 9 catching catfish and bream. I took a trip to Wisconsin the summer before going into the 10th grade with a youth friend. His uncle had a neighbor that was a walleye fishing guide and he took us for a day trip. The first fish I catch was a 31 1/2” Muskie. I caught several Northern Pike the largest being 28” long and a whole stringer of Walleye. We also fished the Black River for Smallmouth Bass and that is where I learned how to bass fish. I came back home that summer itching to go bass fishing at the pond I could find and every chance I could.
After 18 years with another company, I made a career change. I am now working at the Great Outdoor Provision Company at the Greensboro location as there Kayak Specialists/Manager. When I’m not there I am a Freelance Videographer filming and editing for different companies, other YouTube channels and I also have 3 channels of my own. I have also started my own filming and video editing business recently called Blue Road Media LLC. So it’s a little tougher to get out these days but I try to as much as I possibly can. You may ask do I tournament fish? The answer is yes but I am not the super competitive angler as many other tournament fishermen are. When I fish tournaments they are usually the NCKFA tournaments and I do it more to learn and have fun not so much to win.
I am a multi-species fisherman I fish ponds, rivers, lakes and coastal fisheries here in my home state of NC. My main YouTube channel called “Southern Outdoors Fishing” where I make "How To" style videos. I also make fishing product review videos, kayak fishing, and modification videos, bait and tackle review videos, inshore and nearshore kayak fishing videos. I am sponsored by or on prostaff by a few different companies which include KastKing, Plumhead Tackle and I am on GOPC fishing team which is the company I work for. One of my older videos was just recently published in an online fishing magazine https://www.watersportsmag.com to help others learn the basic techniques of the Texas rig of how to rig it and where to use it. I love getting comments where someone has had success fishing using one of my techniques fishing from a video I have posted. That is why I keep making youtube fishing videos. I started my channel back in December of 2014 and I am almost at 400 videos on my channel and I am on my way to 15,000 subscribers and 1.5 million channel views and I plan to keep growing and sharing my message and my passion.
