About Robert Guigar
I have been fishing since the day I could walk. After many casts and hooks to the back, I started catching fish off a basic worm and bobber. I transitioned to no bobber, then to lures, and then finally I moved off shore in a kayak around 2016. I remember using nothing but a basic rooster tail at first, catching small bass here and there. Many days and nights of practice later, I realized I might just be good enough for a tournament in bass fishing. I started with a field and stream 12-foot kayak. I remember rigging this old yak up with PVC pipe and such to make it my own. I ended up doing a couple tournaments where I caught one to two bass during them. Finally, I went to one of my favorite lakes to this day, Watts Bar. My first cast on a laydown with a “Space Monkey” and pull in my first big bass. A 20-inch smallmouth off a bed. That is when the addiction started. I started to learn as much as I could about patterns, testing new baits, trying new things, and doing my best to becoming better each day. I now fish out of a Bonafide, have it exactly to my liking and practice each day. I pro staff for Moccasin Lures, Woo Tungsten, Cortland Line, Googan Baits, and am now an ANGLR Expert. My first year fishing KBF, I qualified for the national championship two different ways, one through state, and one through my local club. I cannot wait for the many more adventures that kayak fishing will provide me, but I will just hold onto the paddle and enjoy the ride.
